Newsletter 16th May 2009

Hi Guys

Firstly congrats to all those who took part in the show!!!! It was a great success and we have had fantastic feedback from many people.....SO WELL DONE EVERYONE!!

Ok, as you all know we are holding auditions today to be placing you in the teams’ the teachers think will be most suitable to you all.  If you have any issues regarding this please come and see me.

As I have explained to you all (or most of you) From now on your teachers and I will be choosing 1 student of the month, every month, to receive a certificate and a small prize for your efforts here at Fahrenheit.  This student will be chosen taking a number of things into account, not just how good you are at dancing.   As you all know, within Fahrenheit, I very much focus on the attitude of each student as well as commitment, attendance and improvement in dance.  Each teacher will chose a member of every individual team then 1 overall student will be chosen out of those students.  This will be done on the last week of each month.  This gives you all something to work towards.

FEE DATES

The following are the dates of when fees are due to be paid from now until the end of this year. I have taken out the dates that we will be away at competition.  As previously explained, if fees are not paid on time then the dancer will be given another week to pay, unfortunately, if fees are not then paid the dancer will not be allowed to dance.  Again, if there is difficulty with this please coma and see me ASAP so we can come to alternative arrangements.

Congratulations on completing our street dance work shop today!!  You are now being given a great opportunity to become part of a team of street dancers with Fahrenheit Dance Studios Swansea.

This chance offers you a place at Fahrenheit to become a member of one of our newest teams of dancers!  We currently have 3 teams who compete regularly in competitions of all standards within the UDO (United Dance Organisation).  These competitions have become extremely popular with children and young people of all ages.  You could now be a part of these competitions as part of Fahrenheit Swansea.  The teacher at today’s workshop is called Lee Crowley.  Lee is the current reigning Over 18 UDO World Champion in Street and Break dance!

Each of the teachers at Fahrenheit Swansea is of very high standard; they are all vastly experienced in this area of dance having danced at a high level of competition and also choreographed various teams throughout the Fahrenheit Dance Company.

Fahrenheit Swansea has now been running for just over two years and is part of a chain of Fahrenheit Dance Studios around the country which is expanding all the time.  As well as having teams of dancers we also run open classes, these classes are held on Tuesdays with various times allocated for different age groups and also specifically for break dance.   Open classes are aimed at people who enjoy the fun of dance and want to take part either for the fun aspect or to keep fit.  The open classes that we run are also feeders for the teams at Fahrenheit, by this I mean, when progress is made through attending open classes, students can then try out to become part of one of our teams.

Fahrenheit is not only dedicated to achieving high standards of dance but also to having fun, street dancing is now becoming one of the most popular forms of dance with people of all ages, it is a fantastic form of exercise in a very enjoyable atmosphere.

Becoming part of a team at Fahrenheit requires a lot of commitment and dedication.  As well as dancing in competitions you will be taking part in different shows and also fundraising and charity events.  Each individual is not only involved in practice, for a minimum of 2 hours per week, but are an essential part of THEIR TEAM, with equal amounts of devotion from each member the team will go from strength to strength with the potential to win fantastic prizes and becoming high profile dancers within the UDO!

Our teams currently train for 2 hours every Sunday morning, the time of your class, should you decide to join Fahrenheit would be 9am until 11am. However, these times are subject to change should it be necessary.  There is a standard fee of £40 per calendar month which is paid directly to the centre manager at the beginning of every month.  The monies paid secure you a place at Fahrenheit for the time that you remain a team member, gaining excellent experience from our highly trained teachers.

Your class will begin on Sunday 22nd March at 9am.  The address of the Studios is;

Hi Guys

My name is Serena Kenney; I am the centre manager for Fahrenheit Swansea Dance Studios.  I just wanted to write this letter to say a BIG HELLO and welcome to our STREET DANCE CLASSES at FAHRENHEIT SWANSEA!!!!

These classes are aimed at children of 11 years and under.....It doesn’t matter if you have never done any street dancing before or if you have been doing it for years, everyone is welcome!!!  The classes are for you and your friends to come along to and enjoy.

Our school has now been running for just over two years and was one of the first street dance schools to open in Swansea.

As well as Fahrenheit being a dance school in Swansea, it is part of a large chain of street dance schools with others based at;

         Stoke

         Cardiff

         Bristol

         Newport

         Llanelli

We currently have 4 teams of dancers at Swansea that train for 2 hours, once a week.  The students dance within teams of different ages and compete at different levels of competition.  We are highly involved with the UDO (United Dance Organisation) and compete 5 times a year at the competitions.

The competitions held each year are:-

·         The British Championships in Pontins every February

·         The South East championships in Sussex every March

·         The Southern championships in Reading every June

·         The World Championships in Blackpool every August and

·         The Welsh Championships in Newport every November.

The competitions give every student in the teams an opportunity to show their street dance talent and win excellent prizes, such as dvd players, iPods’, holidays, as well as medals and trophies.

As well as competitions Fahrenheit hold other events, such as, annual shows,  fund raising and community events such as carnivals, discos and fates etc.  Towards Christmas time there will be a Christmas party plus an award ceremony for the students at Fahrenheit to receive recognition for all their hard work and effort in street dance.

At the moment the age of our youngest team is from 11 years, this will be changing soon and there will be a team made from children as young as 4, if the children become a member of our newest team then it will be a great opportunity for them to enter competitions and take part in the events etc, the team will be selected within the next couple of weeks, if there is an interest in becoming part of the team then please contact me either at class or on 07830 793 098.

Whilst the children are taking part in our classes I would like, if possible to take photographs to be put onto our web site www.fahrenheitdance.co.uk .  This newly designed web site will have photos and information on the classes etc uploaded on a regular basis.  If you have any obligations to this please let me know and this will not be a problem.

Please make sure the form provided about contact details and medical information are filled in and handed back to me today as the information gathered is of great importance.

I hope you enjoy your time at classes with Fahrenheit Swansea and if you have any questions then please come and see me, phone or text, I am available on my mobile throughout the day, if I do not answer please leave a message and I will get back to you as soon as I can!!!
